1.
Hospitality is can be defined as giving of food, drink and sometimes accommodation to people who are not regular members of a household. Typically givers, or hosts, provide these things in their own homes, and the point is that they are sharing their own sustenance with their guests. This notion may be stretched in various directions. For example, a firm is said to provide hospitality if it gives food and drink to visitors. But the central idea of the concept remains that of sharing one's own home and provision with others.

2.
Future managers of the hospitality industry will need a strong understanding of changing consumer needs and the ability to adapt their business in order to constantly delight the new millennial generation. In addition, innovative hospitality leaders of the future need to constantly bring new ideas to this complex, dynamic industry, with an understanding of the diverse expectations of their customers across global markets. Lastly, it is important for future managers of this industry to understand Asian consumer’s needs, as well as how to take advantage of this huge growth opportunity.

3.
In my view, a professional in the hospitality industry is a person who can truly treat customers. We can just laugh and also can smile with sincere acting. But the person whose professional hospitality worker is should be able to treat customers by smiling sincerely, not just acting. This professional hospitality will allow the hospitality industry to survive in the new era of mechanization.

1. In my opinion, I agree with Telfer's statement that "commercial hosts may possess the virtue of hospitableness". Because this kind of job, hospitality is not a need, it is mandatory for everyone. However, hospitality is also optional virtue if he or she is not on duty as it depends on a personal characteristic. Personally, I think that each person can have their own way of expressing their kindness, kindness, compassion, and affection even when they are at work or in daily life.

2. There are many ways to prepare for a career in the hospitality industry. I think the most important factor is your passion and interest in doing the job. I think we should first start gathering basic knowledge about this field and then we should try to find a job in every type of hospitality to try to get as much experience as possible. I think both soft and hard skills are essential for an opportunity to work in the hospitality industry.

3. From my perspective, a professional in the hospitality industry is someone who has all the necessary knowledge in this field and has been trained for a long time before to complete his/her work at a high level. It will be expressed by his/her behavior in dealing with the customer and the way his/her glooming as well.

1. Ms. Tefler talks about being a good host and being hospitable. According to her a good host may or may not be hospitable. Usually an appropriate motive is needed for hospitable behavior and it also depends on how regular the hospitable behavior occurs. Usually there are different kinds of motives behind hospitable behavior which include other regarding motives, reciprocal and non-reciprocal motives. I agree to Ms. Tefler as irrespective of being a private host or a commercial host we do have motives behind which could be either of the 3 motives. For example, even a commercial host could be hospitable since there is a profit motive behind it.

2. To prepare for a career in hospitality sector, we as individuals need to work on ourselves so that we can be the right human capital or the intangible asset a company is looking for. We need to learn from our past experiences and find jobs which offer growth in our career and develops our leadership skills while working. We need to go over and above our goals, start gaining respect and trust of our seniors by doing the job in the best possible manner.

3. Entering a hotel or restaurant, we as guests can usually recognize a hospitality professional. Mainly, it is through a person’s personality, confidence, grooming standards and from our set image of a person being hospitality professional.
Being professional in hospitality industry mainly comprises of being confident, having the skills, knowledge and experience from a person’s learnings. A few other traits also include working in a team, making independent decisions and by providing a high level of service.

Thank You.

Best Regards,

1. Based on Telfer's article of the Philosophy of hospitableness, it can be seen that being hospitable is as same as being a host, which simply means of giving food, drinks and sometimes accommodation. Moreover, Telfer defines being hospitable as a moral virtue, which even a private host or a commercial host should have in order to please their guests in the appropriate ways. The trait of being hospitable is optional and variable depends on times and conditions. However, it is compulsory when guests decide to spend their money on us as a commercial host (a hotel) to entertain and expect to get a memorable experience during their times, we have to prior their demand with the efforts and skill. Overall, hospitableness is the way of being out-going, generous, able to put the real effort, and so forth.

2. The hospitality industry is kind of broad. However, there are various aspects of preparing for a successful career in this industry. Firstly, mastering more experiences and further education. It means that we should enhance more ability and grab more multiple skills as much as possible. As well as, well-preparation and good time management, which also play important roles in this career pathway. We must not be panic in this role. Trying to be self-regarding hospitable and social interaction. Last but not least, understanding customers' preferences and being able to satisfy their expectation is a plus in job preparation.

3. Being a professional in the hospitality industry is the way people are being able to work and are considered in creating and maintaining strong relationships with their customers and also colleagues. Moreover, individuals who also defined as a professional must have an easy-going personality, enjoy social situations, have multiple skills which they can handle in every situations in their workplaces. Additionally, they should be flexible and able to interact with different kinds of people. Being a good decision maker also is very essential to be defined as a professional as well.

1. What are your thoughts on Telfer’s ideas on hospitableness?

Tefler explains that hospitableness is an optional virtue where one extends various different virtues such as benevolence, public-spiritedness, compassion, and affectionateness. He goes on to say that a person may choose to aim at one kind of hospitableness or be an all-around hospitable person. For commercial hosts or hoteliers, hospitableness may not be an optional virtue, but a necessary one. Choosing this type of job or industry suggests that they have chosen to be customarily hospitable.

Personally, I agree with Tefler’s abstract because being hospitable is an essential virtue that any aspiring hotelier should possess or should work on acquiring. It goes without saying that our job is to always create a positive and unforgettable experience for our guests as their hosts with the motive of hospitableness.

2. What are some of the ways that you can adequately prepare for a career in hospitality?

According to an article by Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, the best way to prepare for any career is to offer the right “human capital”—present and future knowledge, skills, and abilities—to the company. They also stressed that it is important to build your own current mix of skills, highlight your past experiences, and work on your unique human capital. Aside from this, it is also vital to develop learning-orientated relationships and leadership skills.

The authors also pointed out that in choosing a job, you may need to consider your boss as they will either inspire and teach you or demotivate you.

Finally, they suggested that it is essential for one to remain open and flexible. Just keep in mind that the goal is to develop a career that will assist in giving the human capital mix that’s necessary for our individual success.

3. What does it mean to be a professional in the hospitality industry?

Professionalism refers to one’s behavior in dealing with their colleagues, customers and guests, and the confidence in managing a wide variety of situations. Professional knowledge and experience provide the basis of confidence in dealing with both familiar and unfamiliar situations, reaching decisions, and implementing them.

Although in the hospitality industry, there is no single professional qualification that provides a route of entry into being recognized as a hospitality professional. To be called as such, one must embody a confident behavior, professional knowledge, and skills relevant to your role that would empower you to make independent decisions and provide a high level of service.

1. According to me, Ms. Telfer was very much clear with her ideas of hospitableness, she rightly suggested the difference between hospitality and hospitableness, though he explained aspects taking host, kind of guest hospitable motives into consideration, moreover hospitableness depends on host because how we treat guest, where the host is just fulfilling the guest demands and needs for instance, food and accommodation and assisting gust with explanation of food and amenities provided by the host where guest would be more clear in his mind about what he is about to have or what he can use in his accommodation as an amenities. hospitableness is more about love and compassion towards your work.
2. Hospitality is just not a  normal word, it comprises subcategories in it like travel, accommodation, food, entertainment, human resources and so on, so as it completes the demand of individual staff or guests accordingly. Hospitality is a business service-oriented sector which is generally very proficient, so it has a professional employee only. According to my opinion, this sector requires attributes like consistency, punctuality, good learner & listener, determinant, with a mixer of these on can achieve success in this hospitality sector but most importantly one should have an aim of this to be in this industry.
3. In the hospitality industry, the person needs to be very polite to everyone and should be professional in every term. Nature and behavior play a vital role in the hospitality sector, as a hospitality professionals most of times deal with the guest so they should be good with their skills. At the end of the day, hospitality sectors demands complete guest satisfaction throughout their stay.

1. On my readings on Ms. Telfer's, there is wide scope of sharing or serving hospitableness, for instance, altruism, fondness and empathy. This not only an end or that the individual who had these characteristics isn't that he/she is hospitality professional, so Ms. Telfer expressed this is a optional virtue. There are a considerable lot of attributes in an individual and it is difficult to change one's character, most benevolent and effective way to do the communication between the guest and the host, as individuals are of different cultures and different nation.
2. To remain or to be successful in this hospitality sector, one ought to be determinant and reliable towards his work and trust himself to be ideal, in short you need a great deal of endeavors. As I would see it, I feel that ambition plays a major role in this as we can't accomplish what we don't love. Likewise, you need to enhance your learning skills, create abilities and leadership qualities and we need to build and shape our own human capital to continue in this industry. To recapitulate, we should learn new things constantly and learn from our mistakes and be consistent and punctual towards your work.
Do What You Love!
3. Professionalism depicts an individual’s personality and the qualities they have in them like confidence, reliable, competent, communication skills and so on. In the hospitality industry professionalism of an individual can be recognize by their behavior and especially their nature or dealings with the staff and as well with their colleagues. Professional employee can be defined as the person who follows the grooming standards, timetable, knows the time management for doing a particular activity, way of communication, knows basic do’s – do not  and his/her dealings with others. These all of the traits helps an individual in their person growth, increase job satisfaction and makes an improved work atmosphere.

1.   According to Telfar’s article, hospitableness can be shown in a variety of ways, for example, by benevolence, public-spiritedness, compassion or affectionateness. However, a person does not need to become hospitable because of these characteristics. Of course, in life, a person can not satisfy everybody or change his mind/ activity because others want him to be like that. In my opinion, it is reasonable to understand that hospitableness is optional; however, to the commercial host, hospitableness is considered to be a priority due to customers’ demand and features of this field that satisfies others.

2.   There are some methods that I can prepare for my career in hospitality. Firstly, I have to try to pick as much as experience to show my present and future knowledge, skills, and abilities. Secondly, it is very important to enrich our workplaces because I can find job opportunities in different industries that require similar to hospitality. Finally, I have to learn how to think about what I will obtain from this job that will help develop my own human capital and enhance my career.

3.   Firstly, professional in the hospitality industry is shown by the observation of the characteristics and behavior of an individual that is the way how you treat with your customers and colleagues. Then,  a level of knowledge and formal qualifications are also the standards to judge the profession of people. Last but not least, the most important characteristic that proves the professionalism is confidence. It is clearly demonstrated when people cope with a wide variety of situations. Peter Jones (2018) said that “confidence comes from the development of skills, knowledge, and understanding based on different forms of learned behavior including learning from experience”.

According to Telfer's definition of hospitality and hospitableness.

and the communication between host and guest should be more friendly
and effective.

There are some ways that I can adequately prepare for a career in    hospitability. Hospitality is distinctive business activity and has a critical role in global economy leading to create percentage of jobs worldwide. 1. In Telfer’s paper, the concept of hospitableness has been discussed critically. Telfer stressed the significance of hospitality-setting in developing emotional value since the ultimate goal hoteliers would like to achieve the highest level of customers satisfaction and loyalty. However, Telfer has suggested that truly hospitable attitude is strongly encouraged which is motivated by the indeed care of guests. Moreover, it should not be practised for the intention of repayment. Personally, I think that Telfer’s idea may not completely applicable as personality is difficult to change. Hoteliers should embrace his/her own personality within the limit to ensure guests are being treated respectfully and politely.

2. In order to be well-prepared and success in the hospitality industry, I believe that qualifications/experience is pivotal since I should have chance to learn a number of practical and management skills including working with others in hospitality service, providing quality customer service and participating in safe work practices. Another thing I would like to mention is Professionalism which will be presented through my appearance, my behaviour towards my co-workers and my guests. Lastly, confidence is also pivotal as I need to confident to ensure I am able to communicate in an understandable way which can assist me in cultivating a good relationship with customers.

3. Being professional in the hospitality industry can be recognised in the way of interaction with colleagues, customers and also in the way one presents own’s self. Additionally, professionalism can be seen in an individual who has the ability to make decisions independently, who can fit himself in a professional team and be able to provide premium quality of service (Jones, 2019)
